David LaChapelle photographer and Lizzo
Lizzo inspired the pages of the February issue of Rolling Stone with a beautiful set of photos by David LaChapelle. the photographer and Hawaiian artist cut his teeth for Andy Warhol's interview magazine in the 1980s and has since become an important figure in the art world for his photo shoots Hardcore that appear in Rolling Stone and other national reviews of the past.
The colorful and remarkable works of David LaChapelle are inspired by religious iconography, surrealism and the apocalypse. When read most cynically, they can highlight the more fearless elements of their famous subjects. But David LaChapelle is rarely cynical about who he photographs, and he thinks this CD specifically combines the “fun and healthy” aspects of his work with Lizzo.

In fact, the creative director of the singer Lizzo, Quinn Wilson, said the team received the first examples of the photographer's unique style and inspiration. “I think aesthetically and broadly, I have always looked David LaChapelle“Wilson told Rolling Stone on the Lizzo cover set in Los Angeles.
During one of the shots I started hallucinating because it's so amazing that I worked somehow - even if it's just a little color or just a little bit of color. 'influence on his part that has been turned into our work we now see the true creator of it together. With her. She is in front of her lens. It's a moment when I say to myself: “We did our job, we did it well. "
Wilson added that the singer Lizzo had probably put something in the head of David LaChapelle: "He doesn't need any action," she said in the morning. Since David LaChapelle moved to Los Angeles from his island about 14 years ago, he has moved away from celebrity photography and focused on art and dance films. David LaChapelle with Rolling Stone recently spoke from his home in Maui about working with the singer Lizzo to make a first cover. What first brought you to Lizzo and allowed you to work together? “A friend played a song from her; I'm here in Hawaii so I'm a little out of touch. I'm listening to Stevie Wonder. Every once in a while there's a song that blows your mind and we shoot here with my friend: “I'm doing my hairstyle. Look at my nails Baby, how are you? I feel good. I mean it's the song of joy that never came out.
It's so cheerful and full of light and we all danced and just blew the speakers in the jungle. So wonderful. I liked it, then I forgot it. And then I watched something on YouTube and I think my algorithms are similar… I love Chaka and Aretha, so they posted a video of her. And I thought, wait, it's that girl!
She does her thing, sings and moves, then plays the flute, and I was like, what's going on?
Anytime someone can play an instrument, it's just magic to me. It's like the girl in the class sitting in the back. This is the girl I forced to be my best friend in high school. She just cried on that flute and I thought, “OK, this has to happen. I want to take a picture of her. And that was it.
