BIOGRAPHY OF PETER HANKFIELD
Originally from Liverpool, Peter hankfield had always immersed himself in rock culture. Without a musical ear, Peter hankfield had an eye for photography From the earliest age. While all of Liverpool listened to The Beatles on the radio, Peter had already proudly turned his attention to the American music scene.
In 1969 at barely 18, contrary to his parents' wishes, Peter hankfield decides to go to London to become a photographer. Peter knew that institutional training would not suit his strong personality. He therefore chose to train.
Against rebuff but inspired by the criticisms and advice given to him, Peter learned to be a good technician and ended up becoming a talented photographer. In July 1972, when Peter was only 23, he traveled to Montreal to photograph the Rolling Stones in concert. His career as a photographer had taken off.
Peter hankfield worked either by commission or by offering his pictures to the major newspapers. His skill allowed him to disengage from technical contingencies by making candid artistic photos.
Peter hankfield didn't stop at photographing music legends like Marley, Keith Richards, James Brown and Miles Davis. He mingled with them. It is his knowledge of the environment and his immense respect for musicians that allowed him to understand the reality on stage. Now 63, Peter chose to live in Cornwall in the village of Polperro.
He continues to work as a photographer and exhibits regularly. It is his knowledge of the environment and his immense respect for musicians that have enabled him to understand reality on stage. Now 63, Peter chose to live in Cornwall in the village of Polperro.
